Master Data Governance & Stewardship Lead

Owns the operating model, and delivery of Master Data Management (MDM) across the enterprise so core entities are accurate, de-duplicated, governed. Stand up golden records, survivorship rules, stewardship workflows, and integration patterns that feed internal and external systems, data products safely. Partner with Data Owners, internal teams within and outside Global technology and ecosystem partners to meet SLAs and with Architecture and Integrations COE to embed secure, reusable patterns

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Defines the MDM vision, operating model, and multi-wave roadmap (e.g., Vendors/Materials → Customers/Locations → Employees) tied to business value (touchless AP, OTIF, cost-to-serve, compliance)
  • Builds the business case, budget, and sequencing with PMO; aligns with Data Governance policies and A&I reference patterns
  • Designs canonical entity/attribute models, identifiers, and hierarchies (e.g., customer/ship-to, legal entities, product/material, site/location)
  • Authors and tunes match/merge, survivorship, standardization, and enrichment rules; defines unmerge/remerge controls
  • Stands up the stewardship model (owners/custodians/SMEs per domain), queues, SLAs, and escalation paths
  • Delivers UIs/workflows for steward tasks (review, approve, remediate) with audit trails
  • Implements the MDM registry and integration patterns (APIs/events/batch) into source/consumer systems, warehouse/lakehouse, BI, and AI/RAG indexes
  • Defines non-functional SLOs (freshness, latency, throughput, availability), runbooks, and change control; manage reference data/hierarchy management
  • Partners with the Governance, Quality & Lineage Lead to embed DQ checks around MDM entities and publishes lineage (source → products → BI/AI)
  • Enforces data contracts for producer/consumer interfaces; blocks breaking changes; runs impact analysis and remediation
  • Ensures golden IDs/records are available to IA bots and AI/RAG safely (label sensitivity, apply redaction/masking for HR/Legal)
  • Provides feature/enrichment feeds and freshness guarantees required by AI Platform & Safety; participates in launch readiness reviews
  • Leads DPIAs for new master data uses; maintains exceptions register; evidences approvals, lineage, access logs, and test results
  • Ensures SoD, retention, and residency policies are applied; supports internal/external audits
  • Publishes playbooks, steward training, and comms; run a Steward Community of Practice and office hours
  • Tracks usage of golden data, retire duplicates, and drives migration of consumers to certified interfaces

 

Desired Skills & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management/Engineering, or related field
  • Master’s in IS/Data/Analytics or MBA with data focus
  • Certifications: CDMP (DAMA) or equivalent; MDM platform accreditation (e.g., Informatica/Reltio/Semarchy/etc.); privacy/security basics (e.g., ISO 27001 foundation), ITIL Foundation
  • 5–7+ years in data management with 3+ years hands-on MDM delivery (party/vendor/material/customer/location/employee) and 2+ years leading MDM/stewardship programs
  • Proven design/tuning of match/merge & survivorship, unmerge controls, remediation workflows, and downstream adoption into analytics & operational systems
  • Working knowledge of data quality, lineage/metadata, data contracts, and GDPR/PII policies; comfort with warehouses/lakehouses (Snowflake/BigQuery/Databricks), dbt models, APIs/events, and batch/stream integrations
  • Experience and good knowledge of Supply Chain, Logistics is an advantage
  • Excellent policy/standard writing and visual documentation (entity models, flows, stewardship guides)
  • Hands-on ability to review SQL/rules, inspect samples, and validate lineage/quality evidence
  • Strong vendor/SOW/SLA management; audit-ready evidence practices
  • Effective change leadership (train-the-trainer, playbooks, community of stewards)
