Director Strategic Sourcing

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Develops and executes global sourcing strategies for indirect spend categories, including transportation fleets, warehouse equipment, maintenance services, technology equipment, and consulting services
  • Conducts market analysis and supplier benchmarking to identify innovative solutions, cost-saving opportunities, and technology advancements
  • Collaborates with Operations, Real Estate, Technology, and Finance teams to align sourcing strategies with business needs, equipment lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance
  • Identifies and consolidates indirect spend across business clusters to leverage volume bundling, achieving economies of scale and improved contract terms
  • Optimizes supplier base by rationalizing vendors and establishing preferred supplier programs
  • Leads initiatives to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) by considering runtime, maintenance, energy consumption, and operational efficiency
  • Leads high-value negotiations with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and value-added services
  • Drives contract development, review, and management processes ensuring compliance with corporate policies and risk mitigation
  • Builds and leads a high-performing global sourcing team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on indirect spend strategies, market trends, supplier risks, and operational efficiencies
  • Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of sourcing initiatives and contract compliance

 

Required Skills & Experience

 

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive procurement experience with at least 5 years in a regional/global leadership role focused on indirect spend sourcing, preferably within food logistics, supply chain, or related industries
  • Proven expertise in category management, strategic sourcing, and supplier negotiations for indirect spend categories such as transportation equipment, technology equipment and operational assets
  • Master degree or comparable degree, preferably in the area of business administration, supply chain management or procurement
  • Track record of delivering significant cost savings through volume bundling, supplier consolidation, and negotiation skills
  • Strong understanding of equipment lifecycle, maintenance considerations, and regulatory compliance impacting sourcing decisions
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience with procurement technologies and contract management systems
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with a collaborative leadership approach
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed to engage suppliers and support global sourcing initiatives
  • Strong leadership and team-building/development capabilities
  • Strong communication& influencing skills and proficient English language capability, both in speaking and writing, to become fully integrated into the global organization
