ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our TechHUB in Kuala Lumpur!

Build and support automated data pipelines and curated datasets (data products) on Azure Databricks, applying software engineering best practices such as version control, modular design, testing, and CI/CD. Implement reliable ingestion and transformation logic with strong data quality controls, observability, and operational monitoring to ensure trusted data is available to analytics and downstream consumers. Continuously improve reliability, performance, and cost through automation, troubleshooting, and production support.

THE SKILLS

To set you up for success in this role, here are some key skills that will help you:

• 3–5+ years of experience in data engineering, with hands-on delivery on Azure and Databricks.
• Experience building and operating scalable data pipelines (batch and/or streaming), incremental processing, and curated data layers (e.g., Medallion/Lakehouse patterns).
• Strong Python and SQL skills, including experience developing and optimizing Spark workloads (partitioning, caching, cluster/job tuning).
• Experience applying DataOps/DevOps practices to data products: Git-based version control, CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring/alerting, and release automation (Azure DevOps or GitHub).
• Familiarity with dbt (preferred) and data quality frameworks/expectations (data contracts, validation, reconciliation).
