ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Android Developer to join our TechHUB in Kuala Lumpur!

The Android Developer will work as a mobile engineer within our Customer Platform team, supporting the delivery of the Customer Platform's Android roadmap. A typical day will include analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment of Android features and enhancements, with active engagement across the team and with customers.
This person has hands-on experience developing production-grade native Android applications using Kotlin (and Java where required), with working knowledge of the Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, Jetpack Compose, and modern architecture patterns such as MVVM. They are ambitious, career-driven, humble, and customer-obsessed. On the mobile team, everything we do is for the customer. This person understands customer priorities and contributes technical input to the Solution Owner accordingly.

The Android Developer will collaborate with peer engineers on the team — contributing to code reviews, testing, and deployment tasks. They will also work closely with our customer platform operations team to support smooth handover of production solutions. This person will participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge-sharing sessions with the operations team.

The role will include day-to-day collaboration and design discussions with our Global Supply Chain Planning and Analytics (GPA) team, as well as with our strategic software partners. The Android Developer will contribute to Android projects for the mobile team and may take ownership of specific features or workstreams as they grow in the role.
Core technical expectations: 3–6 years of hands-on Android development experience, proficiency in Kotlin, working knowledge of Jetpack Compose and Android Architecture Components, REST API integration, unit and instrumented testing (JUnit, Espresso), familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Android, and exposure to Play Store release management.

 THE SKILLS

To set you up for success in this role, here are some key skills that will help you:

Required skills and experience:

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on Android development experience
• Proficient in Kotlin (and Java where required for legacy codebases)
• Solid understanding of the Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android architecture patterns such as MVVM
• Experience with Android Studio and version control systems such as Git or Azure DevOps
• Experience integrating RESTful APIs into Android applications, including authentication, error handling, and data parsing
• Working knowledge of mobile UI/UX best practices and Material Design principles
• Experience with Google Play Store submission processes, app reviews, release management, and deployment
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug, profile, and optimize Android applications for performance and battery efficiency
• Comfortable working in an Agile development environment — sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
• Strong emotional intelligence and collaboration skills, working effectively with both technical and business stakeholders
• Fluent in English
• Comfortable working with global teams across multiple time zones

Nice to have:

• Exposure to cross-platform frameworks such as Flutter or Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for Android (e.g. GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Jenkins)
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Espresso, Mockito)
• Experience with Firebase services (Crashlytics, Analytics, Remote Config)
