Supply Chain Planning Analyst

The Supply Chain Planning Analyst is the engine behind continuous improvement across our planning systems and processes. This is a builder's role: the person in this seat finds where planning is not working the way it should, gets to the root cause, and delivers a durable fix — whether that means reconfiguring logic in Kinaxis Maestro, rewriting a process, automating a manual workflow, or standing up the reporting that makes the problem visible in the first place.

This role sits at the intersection of supply chain operations, planning technology, and analytics. It partners directly with planners, product owners, data engineering, and business stakeholders to translate operational pain points into scalable solutions. Kinaxis Maestro and Power BI are the primary platforms; SQL and Python are the primary tools. What ties them together is a bias toward improvement — this person should be visibly uncomfortable with a workaround that has become permanent.

We are deliberately weighting this search toward capability over tenure. Demonstrated analytical rigor, technical fluency, and a track record of improving something — at any scale — matter more here than years of experience. This role will be part of the GPA Analytics & Insights organization.

This is a hybrid role based at 345 N Morgan St, Chicago, IL 60607. Candidates must reside in the Chicago metropolitan area. Relocation assistance is not offered at this time.

Responsibilities: 

Continuous Improvement of Planning Systems & Processes

• Own a prioritized improvement backlog for supply chain planning: identify opportunities, quantify impact, build the business case, and drive changes from concept through production.
• Diagnose gaps between how planning systems are designed to behave and how they actually behave; lead root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes rather than recurring workarounds.
• Document current-state processes, design future-state workflows, and drive standardization of planning practices across markets and teams.
• Build impact simulations that quantify the effect of a proposed logic or process change before it is deployed.
• Reduce manual effort through automation, eliminating recurring low-value work from the planning cycle.

Kinaxis Maestro Configuration & Enhancement

• Configure and enhance Maestro resources — workbooks, worksheets, dashboards, scorecards, alerts, filters, and automation chains — to support planning processes.
• Translate planner requirements into Maestro solution designs; validate results and resolve configuration defects through SIT and UAT.
• Support planning parameter maintenance and scenario analysis, including inventory policy, safety stock, and replenishment logic.
• Partner with technology teams on data integration between Maestro and upstream/downstream systems; troubleshoot data flow issues that compromise plan integrity.

Analytics, Reporting & Decision Support

• Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards that give planners and leadership real visibility into planning performance, exceptions, and risk.
• Develop and maintain the KPI set that measures planning health — forecast accuracy, days of supply, inventory position, stockout risk, service performance, and process cycle time.
• Use SQL and Python to extract, transform, and analyze large planning data sets; build reusable analytical assets rather than one-off files.
• Monitor and improve data quality across planning inputs; identify and resolve upstream issues at the source.
• Present findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, up to and including senior leadership.

Planning Execution Support & Collaboration

• Respond to time-sensitive planning escalations with fast, well-reasoned root cause analysis and clear recommendations.
• Support planners with ad-hoc analysis, scenario evaluation, and interpretation of planning system output.
• Contribute to testing, validation, deployment, and adoption of planning system enhancements, including user training and documentation.
• Work in partnership with Data Management, Data Science & Engineering, and Product Management to keep improvements scalable and aligned with the broader analytics roadmap.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Analytics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
• Advanced degree or professional certification (APICS CPIM/CSCP, Six Sigma, Kinaxis certification) is a plus, not a requirement.
• Experience level is intentionally flexible. We will consider candidates ranging from early-career analysts with strong technical foundations through experienced planning professionals. What we are screening for is demonstrated capability, not years served.
• Hands-on experience analyzing operational or supply chain data and turning that analysis into a change that stuck — a new report, an automated process, a corrected calculation, a retired manual step.
• Exposure to supply chain planning concepts: demand planning, forecasting, safety stock and inventory policy, replenishment, DC/store-level supply, or S&OP / S&OE processes.
• Experience working in an agile or sprint-based delivery environment (JIRA or equivalent) is preferred

*Starting Salary is $90,000-$105,000 with a 5% targeted bonus
