As a Release Train Engineer (RTE) at our organization, the candidate will serve as a pivotal management-level leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART), driving the alignment of multiple cross-functional teams to deliver high-value outcomes in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment. In this role, the candidate will own the facilitation of key ART processes, manage risks and dependencies across programs, and drive continuous improvement to ensure strategic business objectives are met efficiently. Reporting directly to senior leadership, such as the Director of DevOps, you will influence organizational agility and foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and high performance.

 

This is a hybrid role based at 345 N Morgan St, Chicago, IL 60607. Candidates must reside in the Chicago metropolitan area. Relocation assistance is not offered at this time.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and elevate the agile delivery practice
  • Plan and coordinate Business Units’ Release Trains
  • Report the status of all programs in flight to the senior leadership
  • Conduct Program Increment (PI) planning in a regular basis and identify cross-project dependencies
  • Work with stakeholders to identify release schedule
  • Create and maintain relevant metrics and KPIs
  • Conduct retrospectives for planning and continuous improvement 

 

Qualifications

  • At least 5 Years of experience as RTE in an Agile environment 
  • Hands on experience as a Scrum Master
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Advanced proficiency in: Azure DevOps; Scrum and Kanban 

 

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in SAFe framework

  • Experience with Agile tools (Jira, Azure DevOps)

  • Understanding of CI/CD, automation testing, and familiarity with PL/SQL

You will influence enterprise wide decisions on resource allocation, risk management, and process governance, directly contributing to business outcomes such as reduced time-to-market and increased ROI. By managing program health and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, you will position the team as a leader in agile excellence within the company, with measurable impacts on speed and quality of releases and stakeholder satisfaction.  

 

*Starting salary for this role is between $110,000-$130,000 with a 10% annual target bonus.
